Chronic pain is defined as persistent or recurrent pain lasting longer than 3 months. Scientists estimate that between 35% to 51% of the British population suffers with chronic pain. In the U.S. that figure could be much higher. The findings of a recent study undertaken in the UK, exploring the effectiveness of medicinal cannabis on people suffering from chronic pain is posted on the Francis Taylor website. The study’s authors report the drugs most doctors prescribe for chronic pain have insufficient or poor-quality evidence to support their use including opioids which have dangerous side effects, are extremely addictive and work better for acute, not chronic pain. You can read the formal report HERE. It’s very detailed and bio’s of authors are impressive. One more thing – the study was not funded by a drug company.
