Special Message on 4/20  to all you cannabis lovers from Ed Rosenthal: “When you light your joints today on 4/20 give thanks for your ability to do so”

“I want to wish you all a hashy 4/20. It truly is one of the greatest days of the year when we celebrate the wonderful herb that brings us all together. However, many things have changed over the years, and the high holiday has become more corporate and sales-oriented. Really, we should be honoring those who made great sacrifices and expressing immense gratitude for the freedom we now enjoy. After all, there are still thousands of people in prison for pot. Despite the vast majority of states having some form of legalization, criminal convictions and arrests still happen daily. 4/20 used to be a day of protest, and I encourage you all to continue this tradition and support organizations that are fighting the good fight.”things have changed over the years, and the high holiday has become more corporate and sales-oriented. “There are a couple of other ways to support this work. You can send a letter to your governor asking for clemency for pot prisoners in your backyard. You may also want to consider taking part in the Cannabis Unity Week of Action happening April 29 – May 1, in Washington, D.C. Find out more information and register here.”

“One of my favorites is the Last Prisoner Project. The group advocates for the release of cannabis prisoners and supports them once they’re home. It’s incredibly important and impactful work. If you want to help free those still incarcerated for cannabis, consider sending them a donation. In a recent newsletter, the non-profit shared sentiments from Raymond Carmona, pictured here, who was recently released:

“Last Prisoner Project has been a lifeline over the past year, offering both financial support and the reassurance that there is hope for people in situations like mine. Their assistance has not only helped me manage my immediate needs but also provided me with the belief that a better future is possible. I’m profoundly grateful for their commitment to helping those who face similar challenges.” – Raymond Carmona

To help Last Prisoner Project continue its quest to free cannabis prisoners, we will be donating 10% of all sales at EdRosenthal.com to the group through the rest of the month. I’m fortunate that my own criminal case ultimately ended with my freedom, but not all are so lucky. Do not take for granted that many people have spent decades in jail for a plant that has become so mainstream. When you light your joints today at 4:20, give thanks for your ability to do so.
