To honor Bob Marley‘s 80th birthday, his estate organized a series of events to celebrate his life and work. The ‘Uprising’ Tribute was recorded by the Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica. The line-up included a number of well known Jamaican artists including Mortimer, Bugle, Kumar Fyah, Naomi Cowan, Quan Dajai, Kelly Shane, Tanya Stephens, Alex A Game.. A highlight will be the 8000-person Young Voices Choir in Manchester England doing a medley of Marley favorites. Check it out on YouTube.
“Each year, we honor his legacy in a way that unites our extended family, friends, and fans from all corners of the globe,” noted Bob’s daughter, Cedella Marley. “This 80th milestone is a reminder of his timeless call for love, resilience, and freedom.”
More events honoring Marley are planned throughout the year, including the debut of a new docuseries titled Bob Marley & I about the Wailers’ historic 1975 concerts in London.
