We found an interesting post on LinkedIn from David Uhalley (pictured below), the Operations Manager at the Global Cannabinoid Research Center and a highly regarded advocate for plant-based medicines. It turns out evidence is mounting that it’s not just cannabis and THC that can provide help with age-related illnesses and dementia. It could be other plants as well. For non-scientists this information is a little confusing but exciting nevertheless. The more plant-based medicines scientists discover – especially for illnesses like Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia – the better.

Uhalley writes:
“THC has far more value than many have given it credit for because of its likeness to Anandamide which can down regulate an Endocannabinoid system (ECS) and help age-related disorders in those with a hyper-driven ECS which impacts many people. Being ‘out of balance’ also means having too many endocannabinoids of one type and too little of another. Here at Nanobles/GCRC, we are still gaining an understanding of the reason this happens. The founder of Global Cannabinoid Research Center (GCRC), Mike Robinson, has been using many different supplements to fortify the ECS, but it’s so interesting as they are not from cannabis. During my last visit, the realization that our ECS needs more than one type of plant unimaginably hit me. All these years of reading about how we gain homeostasis through the use of this or that misled me to think cannabis use alone did this.”
