Hey, YourCanna-Club’s having a dance party. What inspired us to do this is learning how dancing helps with a whole range of things including depression, anger, fitness, insomnia and more. So every Friday we’re going to host an online party featuring one of the best dance tunes of all time. Then we’re going to make a play list of all the songs we danced to so you can download it on your phone, hook it up to one of those small speakers, and dance the night away. Today we picked one of the best – Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” at an Arista Records event. Whitney signed her first record contract with the label in 1983. In 2001 she landed a whopping $100 million deal. She remained with Arista throughout her career becoming the label’s best-selling artist. With sales of more than 220 million records worldwide, Whitney is still one of the world’s most popular performers. On February 11, 2012, she was found unconscious in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office reported that Houston’s death was an accidental drowning caused by the effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use. That sad day, the world lost a great talent and a wonderful human being.
