When everyone is forced to grow indoors it means burning a lot of fossil fuels to keep it cool and dry with the fans and lights on.

Cannabis is still illegal at the federal level growers and consumers run the risk of criminal penalties for bringing marijuana across state lines. This is why most cannabis in the US is produced locally and almost always indoors. You would think it would be easier to grow cannabis in Hawaii than Colorado based on climate. But when you’re growing indoors its actually more expensive to do so in Hawaii than any other state in the USA because the tropical levels of humidity require much more in the way of HVAC intervention to keep conditions optimal using fans, dehumidifiers and air-purifiers. Running all those machines is not great for the environment. It’s harder to grow cannabis outdoors but if we could remove some of the risks and restrictions associated with it we would be along way towards radically reducing our carbon footprint.
