We just received legendary grower Ed Rosenthal’s newsletter. As usual it’s a wealth of information for all you “grow your own” folks. Ed understands every portion of the cannabis plant’s life cycle. He gives excellent advice from seed selection to harvesting. You will learn about the growth rate, lighting, CO2, temperature, nutrients, water and sexing plants. And if you are just starting on this journey you need to get Ed’s book, The Marijuana Growers Handbook. Click HERE to order on Amazon.

Here’s Ed’s message:

Welcome to February. A highlight for me in January was being a keynote speaker at the recent SUNY Cannabis Conference in upstate New York, presented by the SUNY Niagara Campus Cannabis program. I was impressed by the scope of the curriculum. It covered everything from cultivation to genetics to business and culinary arts. If you’re considering a career in the cannabis space, consider this program. Also if any of you are attending the Champs Trade Show in Las Vegas Feb. 12-15, I’ll be with the Humboldt Seed crew, so come by and say “High.” Don’t miss the chance to check out amazing varieties, including my Super High Life, now available as feminized seeds. If you are interested in knowing more about autoflowers, the Humboldt site has articles covering everything from expected yields to ideal growing environments.

Our Vivosun experiment is going extremely well and our friends Christian and Jackie are enjoying growing indoors for the first time and are already seeing results. Jackie, who you see here in the picture, is changing the water in all the containers. The Vivosun tent’s three-sided access is incredibly helpful, making regular maintenance much easier. She is using a basic siphon system to refill the containers.

Christian and Jackie’s comments on the hydro experience:

“Hydroponic growing has been a fascinating and rewarding journey for us. While the method can be a bit of a challenge at the start, it’s also incredibly rewarding. We’ve made our share of mistakes, but each has taught us something new. Overall, we’ve learned that staying on top of the basics is key to success. One of the biggest differences compared to outdoor growing is how much more attention we have to pay to the plants, especially during the vegetative (veg) phase.” – Christian & Jackie
