Most of us, if we’re honest, are getting frustrated (like these people in the photo) keeping up with what’s happening online and the complicated, annoying updates these platforms and programs keep inflicting on us just when we’ve figured out the last update. To me it always seems to be an excuse to sell you another add-on so you can use your program again. Well recently we found something that might help. In a recent edition of The New York Times, Emma Dibdin gives us links to the top 5 podcasts that explore all the nooks and crannies of life on the internet. I already listened to a couple of episodes and got some really useful information. Here’s the 5 podcasts Emma recommends. Check the NYT article HERE for more info.
1: CYMI: Twice weekly podcast from SLATE. “They gaze deep into the online abyss and tell you what’s gazing back.” Start with Episode #1: “The Internet History of Ayo Edebiri.”
2. Who? Weekly: This podcast has been broadcasting for 8 years. “It’s a guided tour through the surreal and chaotic world of influencers,YouTube stars and D-listers.”
3. This Blew Up: 6 part series from Ringer explores the downsides of internet fame – in particular the troubles that arise when you turn yourself into a product.
4. Never Post: This series which began in January, focuses on new platforms and developments in the tech world. Emma Dibdin tells us this podcast is a different style than the others -it has a musical score and clips from online videos.
5. Reply All: A Gimlet Media production that ran for 8 years and was extremely entertaining. Dibdin writes that despite the show’s demise, this podcast still ranks as the “definitive broadcast about online life.”
