“Y’know the thing about a shark, he’s got . . .  lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes.” Anyway, unless you’re a marine biologist, Capt. Quint (from the movie Jaws) is right. Sharks don’t have very expressive eyes.On the other hand, have you ever stared into the eyes of a whale or an elephant? Elephants and whales have eyes that look very much like ours, although they work very differently because we humans are top predators with eyes on the front of our heads instead of on the side.

Due to development and loss of habitat, many elephants now live on sanctuaries and some have even become YouTube stars. If you’ve checked out the site, you can tell we have a thing for elephants here at Your Canna-Club.

But what do you do when the elephant has an eye infection? Getting the medicine is one thing, but who’s going to brave enough to apply the ointment? One wrong move and you’re dealing with six tons of pissed off nature.

But that’s where the trust comes in. And it’s a beautiful thing to watch something so enormous and powerful, yet somehow helpless, getting an assist from us tiny humans. And you can tell Gentle Giant Jabu really appreciates the help.
