For years we have had very little coverage of the root causes of the alarming environmental problems we face. But lately with the constant fires, floods, earthquakes, & pandemics,  it’s time we need to focus on these issues and really begin the urgent work of fixing a lot of broken stuff.

Just one of the endless “broken stuff” stories comes from the Hawaiian islands – widely considered to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Andrea Brower (PhD.) (pictured above) is a scientist who lives on Kuai. She explains that since the late 1980’s when the sugar plantations were disappearing the islands were left with an abundance of land with three growing seasons. So what was the result?  The Hawaiian islands have become the nation’s most popular place to test all kinds of lethal chemicals used to develop genetically engineered crops and seeds and powerful insecticides.

The results have been disastrous. “Over the past 30 years these chemical companies have robbed our people of their homeland,” Bauser said. “In 2012 alone, 18 tons of “restricted use pesticides” were reportedly used here.”

So check out this documentary film – Poisoning Paradise.  It’s  a real eye opener about the dangers of chemicals polluting our food supply and environment. The untold illness and deaths that result are disturbing and shocking. Produced by Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keely Brosnan, the film makes clear what’s at stake for for the local people, scientific experts, and healthcare professionals as they expose the disastrous effects these chemicals are having on one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Jane Goodall had this to say about the film: Watch it. Become angry. Take action.
