Diabetes is one of the world’s most common, debilitating diseases that afflicts hundreds of millions of people around the world. But just now we got some hopeful news about combatting this terrible illness. In a just released report from the Cannabis Journal Club, we learn that cannabis, like it does for so many other illnesses, can help alleviate the symptoms of diabetes which decreases life expectancy by 33%. It took years, but the research, spearheaded by the late Raphael Mechoulam, finally resulted in the approval of two patents for treating diabetes with cannabis – US Patent 8,071641 B2 and US Patent 20070099987A1. If you have diabetes or know someone who suffers from the illness, this is wonderful news.
