A poll last year indicated that more Americans think it’d be good if people switched to cannabis and drink less alcohol, Kyle Jaeger (@kylejaeger), senior editor at Marijuana Moment, noted that when asked in a YouGov survey, 27% agreed that it’d be ideal if people used cannabis and stayed away from alcohol. “Only 20 percent said that would be a bad idea.”

Jaeger points out there are no recorded deaths attributed solely to a marijuana overdose. “By the federal government’s own admission, the plant’s compounds have been shown to be medically beneficial for a number of health conditions,” he said.

One important difference between alcohol and weed is that alcohol has been linked to violent behavior. Anyone remember a “gin fight” after too many martinis?
