We all know cyber crime is out of control. Several months ago Kevin Rose, a New York Times reporter based in San Francisco, wrote a story (one of thousands lately) about a Microsoft programmer who discovered some sort of software known as a “backdoor” hidden in the Linux operating system. While a backdoor doesn’t sound very scary it turns out the programmer discovered the software could cause a worldwide, catastrophic cyber attack. The odd thing there’s been nothing written about this “back door” since the article appeared. What’s up with that?
