Evidence is building that adding music therapy to regular treatment for depression and other mental health problems is helping. Music seems to activate the brain in a way that just makes us feel better. It turns out singing and listening to music can reduce our body’s levels of cortisol – a hormone the body releases when it is under stress.

So in these traumatic times music may be the one thing that lifts our spirits and brings us together. So if you’re feeling down, make a playlist of uplifting songs you love and listen often. Here’s one we have at the top of our play list – Bruno Mars in Manilla doing Uptown Funk.
